Steve Campbell Art

Studios and Galleries

In 2006, based in St Louis Missouri, Steve and a business partner founded Jefferson Underground - an art gallery and studio space based in a former car dealership showroom. The 5000 sq ft space hosted works by over 100 artists. With minimal commission and monthly themed shows and exhibitions, Jefferson Underground was a successful showcase for Steve's and many local artists work.

In following the closure of Jefferson Underground in 2007 Steve and 9 artist friends formed the Soulard Art Market in the historic neighbourhood of Soulard, close to the St Louis City centre. Based in a former doctor’s surgery, each artist had their own studio/gallery room as well as a larger gallery space with themed monthly juried exhibitions. Steve remained the founding Chairman of Soulard Art Market until his return to Australia in 2009.

Steve returned to the USA to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the gallery in 2017. Now known as The Soulard Art Gallery, the space continues to be operated as a cooperative space based on Steve's founding charter and has won a number of awards of excellence as a gallery.

Upon returning to Sydney in 2009, and now based in the Blue Mountains, West of Sydney, Steve became a member of several arts groups and successfully exhibited from his home studio as part of the Blue Mountains Arts Trail.
