Steve's St Louis BBQ Rib Sauce

America's capital of BBQ Sauce, St Louis sauce is sweet, tangy tomato-based and general-purpose. This recipe is a basic starter, feel free to up or down the ingredients to suit your taste.

Stir all and slow cook for 2 hours. Refrigerate overnight.
Serve with ribs.

Rib Recipe
Remove membrane from bone side. Rub ribs with salt, pepper, sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder (or your favourite rub).

Smoke at 100C for 2 hours bone side down (I like Cherry and Alder wood).

Thoroughly wrap with baking paper and foil and cook at 100C for 2 hours bone side up.

Unwrap and baste with BBQ Sauce cook at 175C bone down for 30 minutes to form a glaze.


  • 2 cups ketchup

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 TBS Molasses

  • 2 TBS yellow mustard

  • 1 TBS onion powder

  • 1 TBS garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp white pepper

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 2 TBS Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ tsp ground allspice
