Steve's Sticky Five Layer Pork
Sticky, sweet and salty, this Asian pork is delicious, serve with your choice of veg and rice. Don't skimp on ingredients, both types of soy and good Chinese wine are essential.
Blanch pork in boiling water for 1 minute. Drain.
Add sugar and oil stir fry pork until browned.
Add rest of ingredients and high simmer uncovered for 30 minutes (Until sauce has thickened)
Can add chopped bok choy or other greens in the last 5 mins
Serve with rice (Remove Star Anise and Bay!)
500g Pork Belly cubed
75g Palm or Rock sugar
¼ cup Peanut oil
¼ cup Chinese Wine
2 TBS Chinese dark vinegar (or Balsamic)
2 TBS Dark Soy
2 TBS light Soy
2 or 3 stalks of Spring onion chopped to 3cm or so.
1 TBS Ginger
¼ tsp Cinnamon
2 Star Anise
1 Bay Leaf
1 cup water
