Steve's Scotch Eggs

This is the simplest and fastest way to get Scotch eggs! There are other recipes involving dipping in flour and egg and other archaic Gaelic rituals. Try them if you want to waste your time. Remember the frying only needs to cook the meat, not the egg. Delicious hot or cold with mustard or sauce.

Instructions


With dry hands, pat mince into a circle about 10cm in diameter (squishing between slices of cling film works too!)

Place egg in centre and fold the mince around to completely cover, making a ball.

Roll ball in mixture of Panko and spices.

Pat crumbs into the ball and roll again.

Fry in hot oil (190c) for 4 mins each (until dark brown)

Ingredients

  • 4 Peeled Boiled Eggs (cold)

  • 400g Sausage Mince

  • 1 cup Panko Crumbs

  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

  • 1 tsp Onion Powder (Alt. 2 tsp bacon and cheese powder)

  • ½ tsp Black Pepper

  • Cut mince into 4 x 100g balls. 

  • Oil for deep frying
