Steve’s Steak and Mushroom Pasties

Simplicity in itself! Meat, mushroom, miso, pastry. Try to keep the mix dry as the mushrooms will have plenty of liquid. Fry off the steak until it just colours or it will be tough.


Fry off onion in oil until clear and set aside.

Fry off steak in batches in very hot pan for 30 seconds and set aside.

Fry off mushrooms for 30 seconds and set aside.

Combine all ingredients and season to taste.

Cut Puff pastry into 4 (for small pasties) or leave whole for very large pasties.

Spoon mix onto one side fold pastry and crimp.

Wash with egg, sprinkle with seeds and bake at 200C (fan) for 25 minutes until pastry is golden brown.


  • 400-500g Steak – 1cm cubed

  • 1 Onion diced

  • 4 sheets Puff Pastry

  • 100g mushrooms (diced)

  • 1 TBS Soy Paste

  • Olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional sesame/nigella seeds for sprinkling.
